About the register

The Legal Services Commission keeps a register of every order of a tribunal or court that finds a lawyer has engaged in professional misconduct or where the tribunal or court finds a lawyer has engaged
in unsatisfactory professional conduct that amounted to:

  • The removal of the practitioner’s name from an Australian roll
  • The suspension or cancellation of an Australian practising certificate of the lawyer
  • The refusal to grant or renew an Australian practising certificate to the lawyer
  • The appointment of a receiver of all or any of the lawyer’s property or the appointment of a manager for the lawyer’s law practice.

The register also records orders of the Legal Practice Committee that a law practice must not employ a law practice employee for a period of time.
