Our Commissioner

Megan Mahon was appointed the Legal Services Commissioner for Queensland from 16 October 2019.  Megan has a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours from Bond University and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1996 after completing five year Articles.  Having had a distinguished career in private practice for more than 20 years, Megan was the WLAQ 2009 Woman Lawyer of the Year, and the 2017 recipient of the Queensland Law Society President’s Medal.  In 2011 she was appointed a Notary Public, and the following year she became a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law.

The Commissioner is responsible for the Legal Services Commission in discharge of its statutory duties and for ensuring complaints made to the Commission are dealt with thoroughly, fairly and transparently.
