The Queensland discipline register

The Legal Profession Act 2007 (the Act) requires us at section 472 to keep a register (the ‘discipline register’) of disciplinary action taken under the Act – that is to say, of every order of a disciplinary body or court that finds a lawyer guilty of professional misconduct.

The Act requires that the register includes the names of the lawyers the subject of the disciplinary action, the names of the law firms where they worked at the time of the conduct in question and a range of other information including the particulars of the disciplinary action taken against them.

We have included a direct link for every person whose name appears on the register to the written decision(s) of the disciplinary body or court that found against them including any decisions on appeal. The written decisions provide the full particulars of the allegations against them together with the disciplinary body's findings, reasons and orders.

It is important and we recommend that you take the time to read the explanatory notes before you access or search the register for the first time.
