Paul Clauson was appointed the Legal Services Commissioner commencing 31 October 2014.
Paul has been a member of the legal profession since 1979 and prior to his admission had worked for the Queensland Public Service and as Associate to His Honour Mr Justice Matthews of the Supreme Court of Queensland. He worked for various firms prior to commencing his own practice in 1981.
In 1985 he entered Queensland Parliament as the Member for Redlands and subsequently held the portfolios of Minister for Justice & Attorney General, Minister for Justice & Attorney General & Minister for Corrective Services, Attorney General & Minister for the Arts and Heritage. He has worked for one of Australia’s largest public relations firms and was the Executive Director of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland.
Paul maintained ties with the legal profession as a consultant at various times and has been a board member of one of Queensland’s prominent private schools and is an adjunct professor at Bond University.
