The Queensland discipline register

The Legal Profession Act 2007 (the Act) requires the Commissioner to keep a register (the 'discipline register') of all disciplinary action taken under the Act (s.472). It defines 'disciplinary action' to mean an order of a court or a disciplinary body that finds a practitioner guilty of professional misconduct (s.471).

Accordingly, the register does not include an order of a court or a disciplinary body that finds a practitioner guilty of  unsatisfactory professional conduct but not of professional misconduct, nor orders which find a practitioner not guilty.

It is important that you take the time to read the explanatory notes before accessing the discipline register for the first time.

We have included a direct link for every person whose name appears on the discipline register to the written decision of the court or the disciplinary body which found them guilty of professional misconduct.

We have included links to every published decision of the courts and the disciplinary bodies and selected other decisions of the courts that are relevant to the professional obligations of Australian legal practitioners under a separate heading - Disciplinary and other relevant regulatory decisions.
